Samsung plan for white-LED backlit display 10k:1 contrast for your notebook

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., the world’s largest provider of thin-film-transistor, liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) panels, announced today that it has developed three new LCDs for notebook PCs – two offering a true 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio for viewing movies, TV shows and new-age gaming, while the third featuring active White-LED backlighting that boosts picture clarity and reduces power consumption. The White-LED backlighting sports a whooping 10,000:1 contrast, 300cd/m2 brightness, 45% color saturation, and power consumption of just 2 Watts or less when playing video. Expect the 16:9 pair to hit mass production in the first half of 2008 while the white-LED mofo should arrive before 2008 is through. Check out the full specs after da break!
