At present sand filled hour glasses being one of the most ancient technology that had been used for thousands of years are not considered as an useful device. It seems that modern society has moved away beyond the need for this great invention. However designer Pavel Balykin believes that this very retro timepiece is on schedule for a comeback. So he decided to create a new concept that would possess some features of hour glasses. Thus his gadget was called the "Sand + Time watch" and has the distinct feature of a digital hour glass screen saver mode. It is a "screen saver" mode, because this particular feature does not actually count time for you, so it only looks like an hour glass. In case you want to know the real time, just click a button and a more modern interpretation of time, generally called as "numbers", will appear. As an additional feature there is a motion sensor, so it will be possible just to move your hand and the screen saver will disappear.
Speaking about the design of the gadget its unusual hour glass like shape should be emphasized. So I think that this concept due to its originality can be considered as a successful one; however, its simplicity, i.e. small number of available functions, will be probably regarded as a significant disadvantage by many customers.
