iPhone 3G to be Launched in India on 22nd August by Bharti Airtel

Finally, the rumors on the Indian iPhone 3G launch dates have been put to rest with an official announcement by Bharti Airtel.

Today, Bharti Airtel announced 22nd August 2008 as the official launch date of the iPhone 3G in India.

On the announcement of the official release date of the iPhone 3g in India Sanjay Kapoor, president of Mobile Services at Bharti Airtel, said, “iPhone has been the iconic technology revelation of this year. Airtel has been at the forefront of innovation and customer delight in the Indian telecom sector. Introducing iPhone 3G to India further underscores our commitment to enrich the communication experience of all Airtel users.”

The Apple iPhone 3G includes features like 3G networking, built-in GPS for expanded location-based mobile services, and iPhone 2.0 software which supportsMicrosoft Exchange ActiveSync and runs hundreds of third party applications available through the new App Store.

When launched, the iPhone 3G will be made available at Airtel Relationship Centers. Details of pricing are yet to be announced.
