Nokia unveils its new Nokia N96 phone in India, an addition to its NSeries. This dual-slider is a perfect blend of style and supreme technology. Providing optimum web access and entertainment, N96 offers 16 GB memory that can be extended up to 24 GB.
N96’s huge 24GB (16+8) memory stores up to 18000 songs, 20000 images, 60 hours of video or 20 full length movies. It features a 2.8″ screen, multifunctional media keys, music, games and movies at the touch of a button. It comes with a kickstand that allows hands-free viewing.
The N96 offers Wave Secure feature exclusively for India, this S60 unique security application tracks the handset when stolen or lost. It also creates a backup for phone data through the internet.
For the Indian consumers, the N96 comes pre-loaded with the Bollywood Blockbuster flick “Om Shanti Om”, evergreen Hindi songs, 3 N-Gage games and free navigation licence of 8 cities across India.

Nokia N96 smartphone also equips a 5 megapixel camera, Carl Zeiss optics, DVD-like quality video capture at 30 frames per second, built-in 3D stereo speakers, a 3.5 mm headphone connector, a dual LED flash and video light. You can surf, find, create, transfer and share multimedia files with its high-speed USB 2.0 connection and WLAN and HSDPA support. It equips Navigation and the Nokia Maps 2.0 application, thus providing detailed and richer maps. You can also upgrade to turn-by-turn, pedestrian mode, voice-guided car navigation and City Guides. It comes with an integrated A-GPS.

The Nokia N96 phone will hit the Indian markets starting September. Nokia also announces a pre-booking scheme starting 20 August that offers users an opportunity to secure the N96 in advance. You can pre-book the N96 by logging on to the Nokia website and selecting your city and outlet. The concerned Nokia outlet will then call you in an hour. You will have to deposit a booking amount of Rs. 4000.
